AI chip buyers widen their bets as enterprises look beyond Nvidia: Report

Nvidia remains the default choice across most production environments, but the findings suggest enterprises are increasingly seeking alternatives and building greater flexibility into their accelerator strategies.Enterprises are increasingly looking beyond Nvidia for their next AI accelerator deployments, with non-Nvidia chips emerging 14 percentage points ahead of Nvidia’s next-generation GPUs on evaluation lists, according to a VentureBeat survey.The July ‘VB Pulse’ survey of 170 AI infrastructure respondents found that 39.4 per cent were likely to evaluate non-Nvidia accelerators such as AWS Trainium, Google TPU, AMD Instinct, Intel Gaudi and in-house ASICs over the next 12 months.

This compared with 25.3 per cent who said they were likely to evaluate Nvidia’s Blackwell GB300 or other next-generation Nvidia GPUs.Nvidia remains the default choice across most production environments, but the findings suggest enterprises are increasingly seeking alternatives and building greater flexibility into their accelerator strategies.Interest in non-Nvidia chips has risen from 31.8 per cent in June to 39.4 per cent in July.

Current production adoption of providers such as CoreWeave, Lambda, Crusoe and Nebius also increased, although it remained significantly below the level of planned expansion.Open-source infrastructure is also gaining ground.
