MoEngage acquires Aampe to expand AI-driven customer engagement capabilities

MoEngage, a software-as-a-service company, on Wednesday announced it has acquired Aampe, an agentic AI infrastructure company, to expand its customer engagement platform with individual-level AI-driven decisioning capabilities.According to the company’s statement, the acquisition is intended to create a unified platform for agentic marketing and decisioning by combining MoEngage’s AI-powered customer engagement capabilities with Aampe’s per-user AI agent architecture.Aampe deploys a dedicated autonomous AI agent for each end user, with agents making messaging decisions based on marketer-defined content, goals, and guardrails.

The company said its platform currently processes more than 200 billion decisions per week.With the acquisition, Aampe’s founders — Paul Meinshausen, Schaun Wheeler and Sami Abboud — will join MoEngage to lead its Agentic Decisioning initiative.MoEngage said Aampe’s existing customers will continue to be served and will gain access to additional engineering, data science and customer support resources.The acquisition complements its existing Merlin AI capabilities, which are used for campaign creation, journey design and marketing insights, as well as its recently launched Merlin AI Custom Agents.Aampe’s architecture is based on deploying one AI agent per user rather than one model per segment, with each agent maintaining and updating a model of an individual’s preferences and behaviour through ongoing interactions, the company said.The system incorporates reinforcement learning, causal learning, semantic learning and network intelligence to optimise content, timing, frequency and channel selection at the individual level.MoEngage said Aampe’s capabilities will be available to both existing MoEngage customers and brands using other customer engagement platforms.It added that the acquisition will bring together the AI research teams of both organisations to focus on the development of agentic marketing technologies.
